Image-guided systems are essentially like GPS (global positioning satellite) systems for the anatomy of your head. These systems are used to aid the surgeon in the confirming the location of critical structures when the interior of the nose and sinuses is distorted by unusual anatomy or prior surgery.
At the heart of the Stryker Navigation system is the unique two-way communication between the computer and the instruments.
The Stryker Navigation System has been designed to simplify the registration process. Stryker offers an instant registration with an auto-registration mask and the traditional point to point registration with an optional surface match feature.

Millions of Americans perennially suffer the discomfort of nasal stuffiness. This may be indicative of chronic breathing problems that don't respond well to ordinary treatment. The blockage may be related to structural abnormalities inside the nose or to swelling caused by allergies or viruses.
The MiniCAT™ ENT is a revolutionary compact CT scanner designed for intraoperative scanning of the sinuses, skull base and temporal bones. The portability of this device is ideal for use before, during and post-surgery to compare and confirm surgical plans and procedures and is IGS compatible with immediate image transfer.
The most common corrective surgery approach for treatment of acute or chronic sinus inflammation is endocscopic sinus surgery or navigated sinus surgery, or a combination of both. Both techniques are much less invasive than older conventional surgical methods.
The development of software for creating 3-D images of CT scans now allows us, as surgeons, to perform a surgery in our office, using an Apple computer - before we take our patient to the OR!

In Office Balloon Sinuplasty
The most recent addition to the growing number of treatment modalities is the Balloon SinuplastyTM which is utilized to treat chronic sinusitis. This is a much less invasive procedure using a flexible catheter at the blocked sinus opening to release the normal flow of mucus.
Its innovative Flex-Tip features high-powered rotating spray, suction, and 270° articulation - enabling access for direct saline irrigation and fluid removal from sinus mucosal surfaces. This sinusitis treatment can be used in the operating room during endoscopic sinus surgery or in the office and is intended to disrupt and remove bacteria from the paranasal sinuses. In vitro research shows that the Hydrodebrider treatment is more effective at disrupting bacterial communities than saline lavage.
